Let me first start off by saying that if you are smart you will do whatever you can to get in on the ground floor of The Forge Studios. Be a part of their film program; subscribe to their blog; like their Facebook page and sign up for whatever seminars they have because if you live in or near the DMV area (mid-Atlantic region) and you love film then you would be foolish not to get on set with this FILM STUDIO.
Why did I capitalize film studio? Because that's what it is. People are always talking about how Atlanta is the next Hollywood and how other areas have budding film communities. But in the words of Russell Wilson in his Championship season, “Why not us?” Why can’t our area be where you go if you want a career in film. I realize there are things like tax incentives and such, but if all the talent in our area goes elsewhere or we continue to outsource to different regions for our needs, then we will never grow to be the competitive and cutting edge film community I believe we can be (and in many ways already are!)
So with all that said, go out of your way and get connected to The Forge Studios. Whether you love being in front or behind the camera, been in the industry for 30 years or you’re just getting started. The Forge Studios is the place to go.
Now that I have gushed I think its time to explain why.
The team is composed of a group of people that literally put everything on the line to make film happen in our area. They are very experienced and talented; yet humble enough to be collaborative on set. They have big dreams and the skill, will and heart to make those dreams happen.
Not only do they love film but they also love people. You can tell that their heart is to see people grow as artists and achieve their dreams just as much as their own. That is why they have coined the phrase “Together Film Making” because that's what you experience when you are working together with them on a project. I was so pleasantly surprised to meet several people who’s first time it was on set. Since they were in film program they were allowed to get hands on training, which allows them to build their skills and resumes when looking for future work.
I could say more but I think you need to experience for yourself what it’s like to work with The Forge Studios. I also think it’s important to note that I wasn't paid to write this. This was just a natural outpouring of my feeling toward the studio and what their success could mean to everyone in our area.
